Members of the Dawson County High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) club recently won a regional agricultural mechanics contest.
According to Dawson County High School FFA Advisor and Agricultural Sciences Teacher Keith Pankey, the contest, held on Tuesday, March 2, had students compete on several different aspects of agricultural mechanics.
“The contest covered welding, small engines, differential leveling and electric wiring,” Pankey said. “We’re so proud.”
According to Pankey, the DCHS Agricultural Mechanics Team includes Cort Shelnutt, Ridgley Erickson, Prestan Burt and Freddie Jenkins. Not only did the team place first in the competition, but Burt was also the highest scoring senior in the competition.
The team will go on to compete at the state level contest in Covington on March 20, 2021.
