Tampa man booked in Dawsonville for alleged drug possession with intent to distribute

Authorities recently arrested one out-of-town man for allegedly attempting to distribute marijuana in Dawson County during the holiday weekend. 


Wilfredo Mora Calderon, 40, of Tampa, Florida, was arrested by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office after being stopped in the vicinity of downtown Dawsonville just before 2 a.m. on July 4, according to agency warrants. 


Calderon was later charged with failure to maintain lane, possession of marijuana and three counts possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, as well as one count each for drug related objects and  possession of tools and a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He remains in the Dawson County Detention Center without bond as of July 7. 


He’s accused of allegedly committing the crimes between 1 and 2 a.m. on July 4 between 1 and 2 a.m., according to DCSO warrants. In Calderon’s car, a deputy found 77 grams of a green, leafy substance suspected to be marijuana in three separate bags.


Calderon also supposedly had with him a Glock 19 9mm firearm, a clear glass smoking device and a black AWL scale commonly used when attempting to sell marijuana, according to three of the warrants.
