Three months after allegedly committing acts of theft and family violence, one Gainesville man was arrested, according to Dawson County Sheriff’s Office reports.
Daniel Lee Headrick, 27, was apprehended by DSCO deputy Ed Roach at about 11 a.m. on Sept. 17. Headrick, charged with one felony count of theft by shoplifting, also faces one count of simple assault and two counts of battery, all three relating to family violence. These latter charges are classified as misdemeanors.
Headrick is alleged to have stolen multiple pairs of sunglasses from the Sunglass Hut within the North Georgia Premium Outlets on June 3, 2021.
Deputy D. Davis responded to the store’s complainant five days later, according to his report. At that time, there was an active warrant for Headrick’s arrest. The five sunglasses stolen, all Costa Del Mar brand, were collectively valued at more than $2,000.
Additionally, on June 29 close to 7 p.m., DCSO Cpl K9 Deputy Z. Totherow conducted a traffic stop where Headrick was the passenger in the car. Totherow’s report states that he initiated the stop at 143 Hwy. 9 South in Dawsonville on the hunch that the vehicle “possibly contained a wanted subject.”
He observed that the female driver had “apparent injuries from a domestic dispute with the wanted subject.” That domestic incident was documented and submitted to investigations personnel.
Bond is listed as cash for all of Headrick’s charges. While an amount is not listed for the domestic charges, his felony theft by shoplifting one entails a bond amount of $5,700.
