Daniel Lee Roberts, 20, was arrested by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office early on Monday morning on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery for allegedly attacking Kaleb Duckworth, 19, of Dahlonega on July 25.

Deputies were called to the Applebee’s restaurant on Ga. 400 in Dawson County at about 9:53 p.m. July 25, after receiving reports that a man, later identified as Duckworth, had been knocked out during a fight outside of the restaurant, according to Dawson County Sheriff Jeff Johnson.

Johnson said specific details on how the incident occurred are still under investigation.

Duckworth was taken from the scene to a local hospital, where he is in intensive care with severe brain trauma, according to a GoFundMe set up by the Dahlonega Country Day Academy.

Roberts is being held in the Dawson County Detention Center without bond.

Additional charges may be filed in this case, Johnson said.
