This December, Onelife Fitness will open a brand new, upscale fitness club in Dawson County, bringing dozens of different ways for local residents to get in shape.
According to Jason Pelusi, Onelife Regional Director for Georgia, the Dawson location will be the twelfth Onelife location in the state and will be a two-story, 50,000 square foot fitness club with many options for exercise and classes.
“We offer everything from an indoor saltwater pool, a basketball court, three group fitness studios, a hot yoga studio, a cycle studio and our main group fitness studio as well,” Pelusi said. “We’ll offer about 65 to 70 classes a week to start off with and it’s all included in the membership as well.”
In addition to classes, the fitness club will include turf area both inside and outside, locker rooms with private showers, saunas and whirlpools, childcare facilities and a cardio cinema room that will play one movie in surround sound each day.

Pelusi said that the goal is to bring a large fitness center to Dawson County, where residents can make use of the myriad of ways to exercise and stay in shape.
“Part of our philosophy is a non-intimidating environment that makes everybody feel very comfortable,” Pelusi said. “It seems like everybody has been waiting for a big fitness facility to come to town, so we’re extremely excited.”
Pelusi said that they decided to build the new OneLife location in Dawson County due to feedback from members at locations in surrounding areas.
“We listened to our members, and a lot of our members were moving up this way,” Pelusi said. “So our name recognition was gonna be really good here, and just listening to the members and where they were going kind of worked in a couple of different areas so it was an easy decision to pick this location.”
Pelusi said that the reception from the Dawson County community has been overwhelmingly positive so far.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to open up a couple of locations for us here in Georgia, and this by far is one of the most welcoming communities that we’ve had so far — just the excitement, the buzz and the anticipation of what we’re gonna be bringing in,” Pelusi said. “The community has definitely opened its arms up for us here and is very excited for us to be here, so we’re extremely excited.”
In addition to the classes and workout opportunities Onelife will bring to Dawson, the fitness center will bring with it dozens of new employment opportunities for the community.
“We’ll bring 70 jobs to the market once we’re actually open at that location; we try to make an impact in a couple different ways when we come into the market and definitely employment is one of those,” Pelusi said. “We employ a lot of different types of people: some people are just using it to get through school, some people for careers, some part time and some full time, so it’s really a great opportunity for a lot of people in the workforce.”
Pelusi said that the goal is to have the Dawson location of Onelife Fitness open by December. Between now and then, he said that those interested in signing up for memberships can do so in advance for discounted prices and “founder member” rates.
“Even when we’re open, our facilities are very affordable and that’s one of the things that we pride ourselves in is providing a great service at an affordable rate,” Pelusi said. “And it’s a great advantage now that people can actually join for discounts.”
The Dawson location of Onelife Fitness will be located near the Kroger shopping center, at 534 Marketplace Parkway.
This Saturday, July 17, Onelife officials will hold an event in the future fitness club’s parking lot, aimed at giving interested community members a taste of what the center will offer.
“This weekend we’re doing an event in our parking lot where we’re gonna be having a couple of our Zone 4 coaches doing small group training, so we’re gonna be opening that up for a lot of our members that have joined and even prospects that haven’t joined yet to come out and experience what we deliver,” Pelusi said. “There’s no cost to the members that have joined and there’s no cost to anyone that wants to come out and experience it as well, but it’s a great way to get the community even more excited about what they’re gonna get when the facility is here.”
The parking lot event classes will be held July 17 at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
