Dawsonville’s Atlanta Gear Works has announced a new working agreement with McClain Industrial Technologies, Inc. (MiTek), which will bring over 30 years of contacts in steel and aluminum.
According to a press release by Atlanta Gear Works, MiTek will help the gearbox and manufacturing firm “spread its 34-year reputation in pulp and paper to the steel and aluminum industries”.
“Atlanta Gear Works is a leader in the pulp and paper industry,” MiTek President Cory McClain said in the release. “We’re looking forward to offering their same exceptional service and support to our contacts in steel and aluminum.”
MiTek has been in business since 1987 and is headquartered in Alabaster, Alabama. The company has extensive contacts with mechanical maintenance decision makers in steel and aluminum rolling mills throughout the southeast United States, and MiTek’s exclusive territory will include Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas and southern Indiana.
“We were pleased that MiTek became available to help us grow our relations with the steel industry,” Atlanta Gear Works Vice President of Sales Craig Massa said in the release. “Their 30-year experience with steel will help us better serve our steel customers.”
According to the release, the agreement comes at a time when U.S. steel capacity is expected to increase even as prices drop, therefore increasing mills’ need for gearbox repair services.
“Given this forecast, the timing for bringing MiTek on board is optimal and should enable us to maintain and even grow our market share of the industry, no matter what happens in the wider economy,” Massa said.
The release added that Atlanta Gear Works will back its service to the steel and aluminum industries with the same promise that it has built its reputation in other industries on: “Any make, any model, anywhere, anytime, repaired or reverse-engineered to equal or better quality. Guaranteed.”
