Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Director Betsy McGriff is leaving the Chamber to work with Cooper and Company General Contractor in Cumming.
“I'm excited for a new challenge,” McGriff said. “I will probably continue working with colleagues in other communities on behalf of Cooper.”
McGriff will take on a business development role at Cooper and Company, similar to her position with the Chamber. McGriff spent just over three years at the Chamber.
“She has made great strides the past three years in economic development for Dawson County Chamber of Commerce,” President of the Chamber of Commerce Mandy Power said. “She has been instrumental in getting a master trail plan constructed and hopefully implemented here very soon by the county. We are sad to see her go but wish her well.”
Power added that McGriff consulted with “hundreds of businesses looking to come to Dawson County” and that she was the Chamber liaison for the Workforce Committee, launching new programs during McGriff’s time such as Discovery Day and Graduate Pathways for Success.
“During my time,I most enjoyed being a part of the community,” McGriff said. “I loved the Workforce Initiative. We additionally have a great relationship with UNG and Lanier Tech that will continue to bring workers and jobs to the Dawsonville community.”
McGriff’s final day with the Chamber will be Thursday, Aug. 26. Power said the Chamber is “diligently searching” for someone to fill the role.
