The 53rd Annual Dawsonville Moonshine Festival kicked off on Friday morning with the annual Moonshine Run.

The 12th Annual Moonshine Run started at 9:30 a.m on Oct. 23 when 34 cars from the 1950s and 1960s left Bearden Funeral Home to drive to Dillard, Ga., reenacting what running moonshine in North Georgia might have looked like.

Over 80 people rode for two hours to the R.M. Rose Distillery in Dillard for lunch, music and a trip to the distillery warehouse.

Some of the cars traveling to Dillard are registered to be back in Dawsonville all weekend for the festival’s car display.
