A shoes and gold party on March 27 is one that Dawson County residents will not want to miss.

From 5-8 p.m. at the Appalachian Community Bank Community Room, located on Hwy. 53 East in Dawsonville, the party is a fundraiser for KARE for Kids Inc., a local non-profit organization that seeks to provide necessities to children in need in Dawson County.

“The money raised from this event will help us in our year round efforts,” said Calvin Byrd, president of KARE for Kids.

“Every little bit helps. Right now a couple hundred dollars could help two or three kids,” he added.

Those who attend can donate funds to the organization by selling unwanted, mismatched or broken gold jewelry or purchasing shoes.

The event will feature Aerosoles shoes, as well as trading jewelry for cash.

By buying one pair of shoes at regular price, each additional pair can be purchased for half price.

Ten percent of the total proceeds from the jewelry and shoe sales will be donated to KARE for Kids.

“KARE for Kids appreciates every effort people in the community give and have given,” said Robin Smith, secretary of the organization. “Everyone please come out and support us!”
