The Rotary Club of Dawson County recently installed a Little Lending Library near the playground and Rotary Island at Rock Creek Park to help promote reading in all ages by providing easy access to free books.
Rotary is one of four groups installing a library around the county after the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce Community Development Committee and Dawson Family Connection received permission from the county to install the lending libraries on county property in spring of last year.
WEE Books has installed one at War Hill Park, Family Connection has placed one at the Dawson County Public Health Office and the Kiwanis Club will place one at Veterans Memorial Park.
The chamber will also place one at their office.
The libraries are small wooden boxes stocked with free books for anyone to take or borrow. The idea is to "take one now, leave one later."
