Norton to give economic forecast

North Georgia real estate and economic expert Frank Norton Jr. will highlight trends in the local housing market during the Rotary Club of Dawson County's Feb. 20 meeting at the Lakeview Center.

The club, in conjunction with the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce, Dawson County Kiwanis and Dawsonville Lions Club, invites the community to "2014 Eggs and the Economy," which starts at 7:30 a.m.

Norton annually gives an economic update about Dawson County, in addition to his Native Intelligence Report, which addresses growth across North Georgia.

President of the Gainesville-based Norton Agency real estate and insurance firm, Norton stressed the impact of the North Georgia Premium Outlets as a "retail mecca" during last year's local address.

"You see people leaving Dawson County with bags full of stuff, leaving their taxes here," he said.

According to Norton, 75 percent of every dollar spent locally comes from outside Dawson County.

"You are mecca for retail for all of north Atlanta," he said. "Dawson County doesn't need more retail, but we need more retail for the people who aren't from Dawson County."

The cost is $10 per person and includes breakfast.

Seating is limited, so reservations are required. For more information, call the chamber at (706) 265-6278.
