Historian to discuss Cherokee, Creek Indian heritage

Interested citizens are invited to attend next week's Dawson County Historical and Genealogical Society meeting at which Leslie Barker Thomas will discuss the history of Indians who populated our area, the Cherokees and Creeks. Thomas, currently president of the Gilmer County Historical Society, is also president of the Georgia Chapter of the Trail of Tears Association. She has authored numerous magazine and newspaper articles and has been a historical research coordinator for the Trail of Tears Association for 18 years.
