Dawson County Tax Commissioner Linda G. Townley has been elected to the board of directors of Tax Commissioners’ Technology Council of Georgia.

Townley was added to the board to represent the smaller counties in Georgia because of her interests in using technology to increase productivity of the tax commissioner’s office.

The office is also responsible for billing, collecting and disbursing the property tax payments.

Townley recently implemented online tag renewals and tax payments to better serve the busy public and to help the office run more efficiently.

“I’m honored to represent the smaller counties,” said Townley. “I’m honored to have been chosen.”

Founded in 1999 to share information regarding technology-related issues that will ultimately enhance service to the taxpayers of Georgia, the organization seeks to promote a greater appreciation and understanding of technology, the process of governing and the importance of public service.
