Jason Dooley, who has filled the role of interim-Division Chief of Operations and Training for the last 8 months, was selected to fill the role permanently after distinguishing himself from other external candidates during the search process, according to a press release.

“Chief Dooley possesses the experience, leadership and vision to bring a constructive and positive culture of professionalism and accountability to the Dawson County Fire Department,” Fire Chief Danny Thompson said in the release.

In the release, Dooley said that he was honored by the trust the county had placed in him with the promotion.

The fact that the department promoted from within is a testament to the training and leadership that I have received in my 13 years with Dawson County,” Dooley said. “I look forward to continuing that great legacy with the fine men and women that I am lucky to be able to lead.”

Dooley’s assumed his new position on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020.
