Dawson County Tax Commissioner Linda Townley recently announced the promotion of BJ Farley as the county's deputy tax commissioner.

Prior to the promotion, Farley had worked as a tag and tax specialist since March 2008.

Townley said Farley's training and work experience in the real estate industry has proven to be a valuable asset to the office.

"BJ Farley, with her expertise in accounting and real estate, and her excellent work ethic, has made her a valued asset in the tax commissioner's office," she said.

Farley holds a mortgage specialist certification with the Capstone Institute. She was a real estate secretary for seven years before working as a realtor.

She also previously served as a member of the Dawson County Board of Education and is presently chair of the Dawsonville Planning and Zoning Board.

Farley's duties include filling in for the tax commissioner when she is away, accounting for the monies that come through the tax commissioner's office and overseeing day to day operations of the office, among others.

"I am honored to serve Dawson County, in the Tax Commissioner's office. I look forward to my grandchildren growing up and thriving in Dawson County," she said.
