Election qualifying begins soon

Qualifying for Dawsonville's Nov. 3 election opens in two weeks.

The ballot will feature two city council seats and the mayoral election. Qualifying begins Aug. 31 and will run through Sept. 4.

Mayor James Grogan has confirmed he will seek a second term, as have councilmen Caleb Phillips and Jason Power.

To date, no other candidates have publically announced their intentions to run.

The qualifying fee for a council seat is $180. The mayoral fee is $741.

Dates and fees for this year's election were set by the council earlier this year, pursuant to state law.

Ballots can be cast at the board of elections office at 96 Academy Avenue from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
