A local businessman has joined the growing list of residents hoping to become Dawson County’s next clerk of Superior Court.

Carl Volk, 61, announced his candidacy last week, saying he “has the skills, the experience and the dedication that this office requires to get the job done right.”

Volk, a father of two and grandfather of four, has lived in the county for about 15 years.

He and his wife of 37 years, Alycia, are active in the community through organizations such as the Dawsonville Lions Club and KARE for Kids.

Volk says he “wants nothing more than to see dignity restored” to the clerk’s office.

A graduate of Oglethorpe University and John Marshall Law School, he has more than 25 years experience in the business sector.

Volk said he believes he can bring “proven effective business style to this important public office and give back to the community.”
