Memorial services will be held today for a 30-year-old Dawsonville man who died Sunday night following a dirt bike accident in western Dawson County.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the report from the incident, which happened about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, had not been released.

According to Dawson County Coroner Ted Bearden, John K. Everett had been working on the dirt bike before he took it out for a ride on his Elliott Family Parkway property.

At the time of the crash, Bearden said, Everett was not wearing a helmet.

Everett was taken by ambulance to Northside Hospital-Forsyth, where Bearden said he died a short time later of his injuries.

A memorial service will be held at 2 this afternoon in the chapel of Bearden Funeral Home.

Everett was an avid dirt bike racer, who according to his obituary had won numerous races in his career and was the 2010 points champion.

He is survived by his wife, Michelle Everett, and three daughters, all of Dawsonville.

Other immediate survivors include his father and stepmother, mother and stepfather and two siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to offset final expenses.
