During a recent meeting of the Georgia School Boards Association, Dawson County School Board Chairman William Wade was named president.
The association held its summer conference and delegate assembly June 10-11 in Savannah.
Representatives from 124 school boards in Georgia met to approve legislative positions, as well as elect officers for 2016-2017.
Wade was installed as president and Tom Odom, Chair of the Oconee County School Board was named president-elect.
A member of the Rockdale County School Board, Katrina Young, was elected vice president and George Bevels of the Floyd County School Board will continue in his three-year term as treasurer.
The conference is part of an annual event for school board members to complete training requirements as outlined in Georgia law.
