Next week, the University of North Georgia (UNG) will honor it's spring and summer graduates with a virtual celebration event, according to a university press release.

The event will be held on Monday, July 27, the release said, and UNG graduates will receive a personalized link by text message to join the interactive ceremony.

"We are excited to partner with Full Measure Education to bring an engaged virtual celebration experience to our spring and summer graduates," said Jessica Brown, coordinator of University Events for UNG. "We want to help our students and their families mark this milestone, even though we had to postpone the in-person event."

In-person commencement ceremonies for recent graduates are still tentatively scheduled for mid-September, the release said. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ceremonies originally planned for May and August were postponed.

Parents, family and friends are encouraged to post congratulatory photos and videos on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #UNG20grad, #UNGremotegrad, #bestvirtualdayever and #UNGtogether. Post made with those hashtags will feed into the UNG commencement website, which can be found here

Fall commencement ceremonies are scheduled to be held Dec. 11-13. More details will be announced at a later date, the release said.
