During the monthly Chamber of Commerce luncheon April 14, Dawson County teachers of the year were honored by local business and political leaders. The monthly membership luncheon, held on April 14, recognized four elementary school teachers, two middle school teachers and one high school teacher and the impact they have made in the classroom as well as in the community. "When I began thinking about what I would like to say about Mandy Smith, I was very tempted to come up here and tell you that she was a so-so teacher," said Principal Tracey Compton of Kilough Elementary, prompting laughter.
