Dawson County Parks and Recreation teamed up with the Dawson County School System last week to take part in the Let's Jump initiative.

Let's Jump was an effort to break the world record for the most people doing jumping jacks.

In order to break the record, more than 20,000 people world-wide needed to do jumping jacks for one minute Oct. 12. The results will not be known until after Oct. 26.

Black's Mill, Kilough, Riverview and Robinson elementary schools, as well as Dawson and Riverview middle all participated in the movement.

According to park and rec officials, the faculties at all of the schools played a huge part in making sure the entire schools were involved in the event.

Overall, a total of 2,215 Dawson County students completed one minute of jumping jacks without stopping.

Sponsored by National Geographic Kids and the National Recreation and Parks Association, the program aimed to encourage children to exercise and live healthy lives by showing them that exercise can be fun.
