Last week, Dawson County High School officials encouraged seniors to take the next step to higher education.

The high school held its Apply to College Day on Nov. 7, to help students continue their educations.

"The program is open to any senior," said Marjorie Poss, Dawson County High School counselor. "We want to help them apply to college.

Poss said that the school has encouraged the students to get out and apply for college, from holding several senior meetings to visiting the students in their homerooms.

"They only had to tell me once," said senior Serenity Kraus. "I filled out my forms right away."

According to Poss, 70 percent of Dawson County High School's seniors attend college after graduation.

"We tell all of our seniors to: ‘Please let us help you,'" she said. "That's our goal, to help as many as we can."
