The chill of winter weather has passed, and Black’s Mill Elementary School is celebrating the new season with a nighttime festival.
Spring Fling 2010, which benefits the school’s PTO, is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. April 16 at Black’s Mill.
The annual event features carnival games, inflatables, demonstrations, snacks, vendors and live entertainment. For $5, children get unlimited access to games and rides.
Jolene Posey, school PTO president, said “inflatables are always a big hit.”
Posey said guests can expect lots of “carnival-type food,” including pizza, chips, popcorn and drinks. Each food item costs $1, which also goes to the PTO.
Posey said the organization “brings parents, teachers and students together in social and academic settings. It’s a good way to build relationships as a school family.”
Vice Principal Cindy Kinney said Spring Fling “usually brings out a lot of people.
“Families get to come out and spend time with each other,” Kinney said. “It’s a family fun event.”
There will be activities and games for parents and children, including face painting, television and movie trivia, a fortune teller, stuffed animal walk, bingo, limbo, bean bag toss and a cake walk.
Live demonstrations are also planned by karate instructors, firefighters, sheriff’s deputies and arts and crafts vendors.
Black’s Mill Elementary School is located at 1860 Dawson Forest Road East.
