Last week, students from a private academy in Cumming traveled to Dawsonville to give the gift of Christmas to Dawson County children.

Carrington Academy at Windermere presented a donation of Christmas presents to K.A.R.E. for Kids, a Dawson County nonprofit that gathers toys and clothes to give to children in the county who would not normally receive Christmas.

"We really appreciate the donations Carrington has made to K.A.R.E. for Kids," said Tiffany Buchan, representative for K.A.R.E. for Kids. "These toys mean a lot to the kids in Dawson County and they will go a long way in making someone's Christmas."

Academy students, parents and teachers collected gifts including winter coats, clothing and toys to fulfill the Christmas wish lists of children in need in Dawson County. Students have been learning the importance of giving back to the community and helping others.

The gifts were delivered to the nonprofit on Dec. 12.
