Black’s Mill Elementary School fifth grader Jenna Burke celebrated her 11th birthday by winning first place in the districtwide spelling bee Jan. 25. 

Burke won by correctly spelling the words “harmonica” and “nostril” in the championship round. 

She will go on to compete in the regional spelling bee in February.
