Robinson Elementary continues its ornament sale trend for a second year in a row.

Last year, art teacher John Lundy opened the shop of homemade ornaments that he and the students created.

"So far, we've done about $1,600 in sales in the first week," Lundy said. "People have been going nuts over the ornaments."

The sale was originally set to run from Dec. 2 through 19, but Lundy said that with the amount of demand and having to juggle ornament crafting and teaching, the sale may only go on as long as supplies allow.

"I do all of my ornament shopping here," said Angie Smith. "[Lundy] really outdid himself this year.

Last year, Lundy raised about $2,200 with the proceeds going to K.A.R.E. for Kids. This year, all proceeds from the shop will benefit the Shop with a Cop program hosted by the Dawson County Sheriff's Office.

"Every $100 we raise is another kid that gets Christmas and they normally turn down about 15 kids each year, so already we've covered that," Lundy said.

"I plan on buying some gifts here," Smith said. "I won't say what, but I've already done some Christmas shopping."

The ornament shop and silent auction can be found in the entryway of Robinson Elementary School during normal school hours, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
