A school bus carrying students to Black's Mill Elementary and Riverview Middle School was hit Tuesday morning at the crossing of Perimeter Road and Hwy. 9 South.

"All the kids are fine and so is our driver," said Dawson County School Superintendent Damon Gibbs.

The special needs bus was waiting to turn left at the stop sign on Perimeter Road onto Hwy. 9 South when a car attempted to pull out from Burt's Crossing.

"We were told that another car hit the car pulling out on Hwy. 9, and then the car pulling out hit the bus," said Lisa Perry, a spokeswoman for the school system.

Dawson County Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten confirmed that the car that was hit had been pushed into the school bus.

"[Georgia State Patrol] troopers worked the wreck, because it involved a government vehicle," he said.

The students loaded a second bus and were taken on to school, according to Perry.

According to authorities, the people in the other two vehicles were also not injured.
