Morgan receives scholarship

Krista Morgan, a 2010 graduate of Dawson County High School, has been awarded the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship.

  

The accolade is given to one student from each high school in the state of Georgia. It includes a $1,500 award renewable for up to three years for college-related expenses.

  

The Georgia Department of Education gives out the award once a year to graduated seniors who have applied or  been accepted into a college and excelled in academic achievement.

  

Morgan, 18, was also named salutatorian for the 2009-2010 school year at Dawson County High School.

  

She is attending North Georgia College & State University, pursuing a pre-med degree.
