The Dawson County Board of Education voted Feb. 8 to approve its principal at Riverview Elementary School, which is slated to open in fall 2010.  Superintendent Keith Porter recommended Julia Mashburn for the spot, which the school board approved in a unanimous vote.   Mashburn is currently principal at Black's Mill Elementary School.  The board also approved Porter's recommendation of Cindy Kinney to be the new principal at Black's Mill. Kinney is currently vice principal at the school.

Funding for Riverview Elementary school came from the county's last 1-cent educational sales tax. Dollars were earmarked for "acquiring, construction and equipping" the new elementary school in a 2005 school board resolution.
