Dawson County Junior High School student Laney Maryellen Taylor was recently named the 2017 Queen in Action at the America's National Miss Pageant. It was the highest honor awarded at the pageant.
With close to 40 other girls vying for the title it was a huge honor for her to win. She earned top scores in interview and community service.
With more than 700 hours of volunteer work, she rose above the other contestants to win the title.
She supports the Dawson County Humane Society and SOMAD (Save One Make a Difference Pet Rescue).
She also volunteers for a couple local farms and at the Dawson food bank.
A rising freshman she plays softball for the high school and is an honors student.
She hopes to be a veterinarian as an adult and is currently working on her volunteer hours needed to apply for veterinarian school.
She is a native of Dawson County and is the daughter of Bobby and Charla Taylor.
She currently also holds the title of Dawson County Teen Miss Relay for Life.
