Dawson County Schools announced in a press release Wednesday that Brody Hughes will be the new principal of Dawson County High School.

Hughes is a native of Dawson County. He has worked in the Dawson County School System his entire career serving as a teacher, graduation coach and assistant principal of curriculum and instruction.

His early experiences at Dawson County’s Hightower Academy gave him a heart of compassion and determination to help young people succeed in school and in life.

Hughes’s educational background includes an undergraduate and master’s degree from the University of North Georgia and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University.

Hughes is married to Brittany Hughes, also of Dawsonville. They have two children, Landon who is two years old and Sutton who is ten weeks old. Hughes enjoys spending time with family and friends and serving in his local church.

When asked about how he feels about becoming principal of Dawson County High School, Hughes said, “I am excited for the opportunity to continue to serve the students of Dawson County. I believe we have a great staff and some fantastic opportunities for our students.”
