Dawson County’s Students Against Destructive Decisions chapter received a $2,000 grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety recently to enhance its programs.

It’s part of a statewide effort to improve the program, which aims to provide students with “the best prevention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, drug use, impaired driving and other destructive decisions.”

According to its Web site, the goal of the GOHS is “to educate the public on traffic safety and to facilitate the implementation of programs that reduce crashes, injuries and fatalities on georgia roadways.

Statewide, more than $52,000 in grant dollars have been approved to enhance SADD programs.
