A seventh grade Dawson County Middle School student placed well last month in a horse show at Chicopee Woods in Hall County.

Camryn Geiger and her team, the Dawson County Pony Tails, competed on Jan. 15-16 to try to earn points toward an upcoming regional competition in March.

The team is part of Interscholastic Equestrian Association Zone Four, which is a program for middle and high school equestrian athletes throughout the southeastern United States.

Geiger’s mother, Ethelyn, said: “The girls have a great time” competing.

“Camryn has been riding for fun since she was in the fourth grade, but this is only her second year in competition.”

The local team consists of 10 Dawson County girls ranging from middle school to high school age.
