Emergency personnel enjoyed a cookout Monday at Dawson County Station 1 in celebration of National EMS Week.

“We just wanted to take a few minutes and say thanks for the work our staff does throughout the year and the care they provide to the sick and injured,” said Dawson County Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford.

Service partner Airlife Georgia provided the food for Monday’s cookout and for two additional cookouts later this week.

“We’ll be preparing food for three days just to thank them for the good job they do taking care of the citizens of the county,” Swafford said.

National EMS Week began Sunday and continues through Saturday.
