The Dawson County Humane Society is always looking for ways to raise much-needed funds to operate the new animal shelter at Rock Creek Park. Recently, help came in the form of 13-year-old Dawson County Middle School student Allie Costley.

Costley donated her drawing to be printed on T-shirts.

The Humane Society is selling the shirts for $10. All proceeds go to help the homeless animals at the local shelter.

“It is great to see our young people volunteering at the shelter and doing things like this to help the animals,” said Kay Harris, director of the Dawson County Animal Shelter.

Costley was presented the first T-shirt recently at her school, before the shirts went on sale.

T-shirts may be purchased at the shelter.

“We welcome ideas for fundraisers and we can always use more volunteers,” said Joyce McNutt, member of the Dawson County Humane Society Board of Directors.

“Thanks to the caring of Allie, a few more of our strays will be helped,” said Harris.
