An after school youth program planned for Rock Creek Park could be cancelled if more children do not sign up.

Up and Out After School provides after school and out of school care for students kindergarten through eighth grade at the sports complex.

The Dawson County Parks and Recreation staff is currently trying to recruit more participants to the program.

“If more children do not participate the program is in danger of being cancelled," said Programs and Facilities Director Buffie Henson.

The camp runs the entire school year, Monday through Friday from 3-6 p.m.The program motto "Helping Youth Realize Their Potential" says it all.

“We seek to use these hours of after school/out of school to expose youth to a variety of activities — science, art, service learning, nutrition, gardening, sports and fitness and other areas of interest to the students,” said Henson.

Eligible students can be transported from all elementary and middle schools within the Dawson County School System.

There is no registration fee and the cost is only $10 per day per child. You pay only for the number of days your child attends the camp.
