Another athlete at Dawson County High School has received a college scholarship.
He is senior Chase Wilson, who signed to play football with Faulkner University in Montgomery, Ala.
We are greatly honored today to be witnessing this thing we have happening today, DCHS Athletic Director Grady Turner said March 19. We are very proud of Chase and his accomplishments. We know hes going to do great things up there, just as he has done in high school, and were very proud of him.
DCHS football coach Jeff Lee also praised Wilsons accomplishments. This is always a big event for us, he said. Were real proud of our student athletes who are able to go on and continue their playing career, one, and secondly, get an education.
Wilson said he was grateful for the opportunity to continue to play. First, I would like to thank God for the opportunity he gave me and all my family and friends for supporting me and, of course, my coaches who helped teach me along the way.
Wilson will be playing on Faulkners offensive line, the same position he has played for Dawson County.
Im excited to get to play at the next level, said Wilson, who plans to major in criminal justice.
Wilsons father, Gary, said he was proud of the example Wilson has set. To see where hes come in life with God being first, family second and then working his way down, it makes me proud of him to know I can send him off, and hes going to be a light for other people.
Faulkner University competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and is a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association.
