If you cant be in Daytona on Saturday, the next best place to watch Chase Elliott race is at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in downtown Dawsonville.
Elliott, 18, will be racing for the first time in the opening Daytona Nationwide NASCAR race at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday. This is Elliotts first Nationwide Series start. He is contending for 2014 Rookie of the Year honors.
The hall of fame will project the televised race in the Gordon Pirkle Room, as well as on all the TVs around the museum.
Folks gathered at the museum on Saturday Feb. 15, to watch Elliott prove hes ready for the speedway following his run in the ARCA season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Elliott finished ninth overall in the 80-lap race. He maintained the number two spot until the end of the race. He got hung out, GRHOF President Gordon Pirkle said. He was just caught in a bad situation by being second. But it was good learning experience; I think it will help him on Saturday.
Pirkle said people should start showing up to watch the race at 11 a.m. Saturday. Come to watch the pre-show that features Chase and was filmed in Dawsonville, Pirkle said.
Film crews from ESPN set up in the GRHOF three weeks ago to film a pre-show about Elliott.
There is no cost to come and watch the race. Food and drinks from The Pool Room will be available to purchase. Food is available, but you can also bring your own, Pirkle said.
There will also be giveaways during the race for Elliott and GRHOF memorabilia.
