Two injured in 400 wreck

Two men were sent to the hospital following what is reported to be a DUI-related car wreck, Feb. 28.

Charles F. Hoffman of East Point, Ga., was traveling southbound on Ga. 400 at 8:14 that Tuesday evening when a 1994 Nissan Sentra, driven by Jose Edwardo Rodriguez, pulled in front of them. According to the Georgia State Patrol, Rodriguez was attempting to cross Ga. 400 onto Lee Castleberry Road.

Hoffmans 1993 Ford truck struck the passenger side of the Sentra.

Hoffman was transported by the Dawson County Emergency Services team to North Fulton Hospital with an open head wound. The GSP reports he is still in the hospital.

An update on his condition was unavailable.

Alejandro Larios Perez, of Cumming, was a passenger in Rodriguezs vehicle. He was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with a broken back. According to the GSP, he had to have his spleen removed, as well.

As of March 5, his condition was

reported as satisfactory by the hospital.

Rodriguez, 25, of Duluth, is being held in Dawson County on multiple charges, including DUI, failure to yield when entering or crossing the roadway, driving with an expired license, no proof of insurance on motor vehicle, possession of an open container in the vehicles passenger area, and serious injury by vehicle.

The incident is still under investigation.
