The Tigers are ready for the 2011-2012 season after a 58-41 win over North Forsyth last Thursday night.
The game started slow - with North Forsyth leading Dawson 7-6 after the first quarter - but the pace picked up in the second quarter with the two teams combining for 30 points.
The Tigers entered the second half down by three when things started to click.
Our 3-2 match up kept us in the game in the first half, said head coach Thad Burgess. We relaxed in the second half and made a nice run with a 17-6 advantage in the third quarter.
The Tigers continued to put the pressure on in the fourth - outscoring the raiders 21-12.
It showed early that we had the football guys for only three days, as we struggled early scoring, but it was good chance to get several new faces some quality game experience and get a win.
Junior Tyler Dominy led all scorers with 25 points. Junior Bruce Clark contributed 13 points. Junior Gunnar Armstrong and Sophomore Jonathan Sanderson each scored seven points. Sophomore Lucas Pain picked up two points and Junior Camron Chester scored four.
The Tigers officially opened their season Tuesday night at home against Tallulah Falls High School. Results of that game were not available at presstime Tuesday. The teams next home game is Saturday, Nov. 19, at 3 p.m. against Towns County.
This is going to be a good bunch to watch, play and coach. They have great character, are great kids and are willing to do anything ask of them, Burgess said.
