The Dawson County Tigers improved their record to a sparkling 10-1 for the season as they captured the Pacelli Tournament in Columbus last week.

It was nice to get away for a couple of days with our team and win the tournament in Columbus, Coach Thad Burgess said. We played very well the first night to beat a very athletic team in Schley County.

Bruce Clark led the Tiger attack with 17 points in the 57-49 win over Schley County. Tyler Dominy added 10 to also reach double figures for Dawson.

The Tigers simply dominated Pacelli in the championship contest, winning 56-22.

In the championship game, offensively we were not as good, but we continued to play outstanding on the defensive end and in rebounding.

After a close first quarter, the Tigers put together runs of 11-2 in the second, 13-3 in the third and 18-6 in the final stanza.

Dawson County was to return to action Tuesday night against Murphy, N.C. in the Battle of the State Tournament at Hiawasee.

The team will return home Jan. 6 to host Rabun County.
