Stanton Rogers signs with LaGrange

Stanton Rogers will be a part of LaGrange Colleges soccer program for the 2012-2013 season.

Rogerswho has been playing soccer since he was in second grade, and played defense on the Dawson County High School team this past yearsigned on with the program Friday, May 25, as his family, coaches and friends looked on.

This is our third senior athlete to sign a scholarship this year, said Grady Turner, athletic director for Dawson County High School. We couldnt be prouder.

Soccer Coach Jed Lacey agreed. Stantons hard work and dedication got him (to this point), he said.

Rogers said that he is looking forward to attending LaGrange College. Its a beautiful campus, and I like the atmosphere, he said.

He plans to major in engineering. Im just looking to see what fields are open, he said.

His mother, Renee Rogers, was overcome with emotion during the signing, thanking his teachers and mentors over the years for being there for her son. Were very excited about this next chapter in his life, she said.

Stanton received both athletic and academic scholarships from LaGrange College. He won the Sandy Walls award during the recent Senior Lettermans banquet at the high school.

LaGrange College, the oldest private college in Georgia, has an enrollment of approximately 1,000 students.
