A Dawson County home was destroyed in a fire after reports of an explosion last week.

Dawson County Sheriffs office received a call from Wildwood Court, just off Blacks Mill Road of a road Thursday around noon that there had been an explosion in the area.

They (deputies) were there within minutes after the call came in and could see that the house exploded, Dawson County Sheriff Public Information Officer Tony Wooten said.

No one was at home at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Propane fuel is suspected to be the cause of the explosion, Deputy Chief Tim Satterfield said.

Lack of water was an issue in fighting the blaze, Chief Lanier Swafford said.

Satterfield said state officials were called in on Friday to help investigate the cause of the explosion. A cause has not been released and the investigation is still

ongoing, Swafford said. The home was a total loss, Swafford said.

Fires that destroyed a Backwoods Trail home and a Perimeter Road building last week are still under investigation, Swafford said.
