Man slashed in fight at store

A man sustained a serious knife wound in an altercation with another man Saturday evening in downtown Dawsonville.

According to Wooten, at about 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to a fight at the Express Food Mart on Highway 53 in the western part of the city. When deputies arrived they found a man deeply cut by a knife. The man who is believed to have caused the wound had already fled the scene.

Wooten said it is possible he fled accompanied by two females. Its not known what the two men were fighting about.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Emergency Services Chief Lanier Swafford said.

No arrests have been made in the incident. Wooten said the man who allegedly wounded the other man involved in the fight has come forward and is being interviewed by detectives.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with tips related to the subject or his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriffs Office, Wooten said. Tips can be called in at 706-344-3636.
