A man was shot in Dawson County on Halloween.

At about 12:30 p.m. Oct. 31, Dawson County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a call at a residence on Cletus Nichols Road in reference to a shooting.

Paul Henry Truelove, 58, of Dawsonville was arrested on charges of aggravated assault.

According to Investigator Ray Goodie, Truelove shot the victim, who has not been named, with a shotgun.

The victim was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Goodie said. The male victim had injuries to his face and abdomen, Goodie said.

Although a motive is not clear, Goodie said the shooting was intentional. The investigation is still active.

As of press time, Truelove is held without bail at the Dawson County Detention Center.

This is the only shooting so far this year in Dawson County.
