Authorities are investigating a report that two men assaulted and robbed another man of his prescription narcotics at a convenience store near Highway 400.

The incident happened at about 7 a.m. Friday, June 19, as the alleged victim walked from the store back to his car in the parking lot of Kangaroo Express, located at 6245 Hwy. 53, near the intersection of Ga. 400 and Highway 53. He said a white male and a black male in a white van strong-armed him, knocking him to the ground and stole his prescription narcotics, Dawson County Sheriffs Capt. Tony Wooten said. They didnt take his wallet or anything from his vehicle, just the pills.Deputies have reviewed surveillance footage from the store, and the case remains under investigation. No weapons were involved and no serious injuries were reported.

The gas station is located next to a 24-hour CVS pharmacy. Wooten said it is unclear if there is a connection. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dawson County Sheriffs Office, 706-344-3535.
