A Dawson County man was arrested last week on charges of aggravated child molestation and other sexual crimes, according to a Dawson County sheriffs report.

Paul Silas Byrd, 45, of Dawsonville was arrested Aug. 14 in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred in April of 2007.

According to Maj. Tony Wooten, the victim recently came forward to a guardian with details of the incident. The victims guardian came to the sheriffs office and filed a report.

The victims age is not known, but Wooten said the child was under 12 at the time of the incident.

A warrant was obtained for aggravated child molestation, and Byrd was arrested on the 14th. He was not given a bond amount and was still in jail at presstime.
