The Lady Tigers snapped their two game losing skid and started a two game winning streak to finish their regular season. The two wins against conference opponents improved Dawsons overall record to 17-8 and their region record 8-6.

The wins also put the Lady Tigers in a tie for third place in the 7AAA region standings with Banks County.

The Lady Tigers started their win streak when they hosted the Lady Spartans of West Hall on Friday, Feb. 8. Dawsons defense slowed down the offense of West Hall while the offense connected on some big shots to secure a 42-35 victory.

We got a much needed victory over West Hall tonight, said Steve Sweat, DCHSs head girls basketball coach, after the game. We played well enough to win and thats all that matters.

The Lady Tigers scoring was low in large part due to the Lady Spartans holding the ball to kill the clock. However, Karlie Bearden and Sheyenne Seabolt each finished the game with 13 points. Ashley Parker knocked down nine points and Haley Burgess connected for five points in the win. Katelynn Simpson scored her first varsity career points, adding two to the Lady Tigers final score.

On Saturday night, the Lady Tigers finished their regular season with a 55-51 victory in front of their home crowd over Banks County. Dawson played a solid game on both sides of the ball.

We finally got the monkey off of our back, Sweat said after defeating the Lady Leopards. We were able to get things rolling with a 16-8 first quarter.

The Lady Tigers had three players score in double digits in the victory. Parker had an impressive night from the paint and the perimeter, scoring 20 points for Dawson. Burgess contributed 14 points and Seabolt added 12 points.

The Lady Tigers winning streak to end the season gives the team some momentum going into the postseason.

At press time, the Lady Tigers were set to take on East Hall with the winner of the game advancing to the Region Tournament and semifinals.
