The Dawson County High School (DCHS) softball teams season ended last week with a disappointing loss in the opening around of the state playoffs.

The Lady Tigers hosted Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in a best of three series and jumped out to an early series lead with a 4-3 win in the first game of Wednesdays doubleheader. Senior Kristi Hyams drove in the game winning run in the bottom of the 7th.

The warriors answered back in the second game with a 2-0, forcing game three.

The first two games were very competitive, said Coach Jimmy Pruett. We were back and forth from the first pitch.

The Lady Tigers were eliminated after a big loss on Thursday, 11-2.

It was like we ran out of steam the second day, Pruett said.

Pruetts ace, Junior Jenna Abbott, started all three games.

LFO is a good hitting team and I think she was just tired by the time the third game rolled around, he said.

We had some great production from a few players, Kim Wallace, Kristi Hyams and Marti Rogers, but we fell just a little short this year, Pruett said.

The Lady Tigers finish the season 21-11 overall and 12-6 in region play.
